Picked up this odd little 'angled top' glass canister jar at the thrift store last weekend for a buck, wanting something different to hold the handful of old bakelite handled flatware (also recently acquired, plus another handful of slightly newer but just as colorful vintage plastic-handled flatware from Japan that I already had) on the kitchen counter next to the little brown crocks-ful of the rest of my daily duty flatware.
It is roughly 4" square and 6" tall, with the words "GRANNY'S PRODUCTS INC." embossed on its left side, "1 PINT" on its right side, and "PEACE PLENTY 1879" with a 'sheaves of wheat' logo on its front. In a ring on its underside is "JAR MADE IN ITALY 1968" with possibly another few letters in an inner ring that I can't make out. A little bit of Google suggests it was probably first part of a set of 4 that were also commonly found made of cobalt blue glass.
I haven't found any reference yet to suggest whether or not any specific "product" was made by "Granny's Products" beyond the jars themselves, nor to explain any meaning behind the logo/date on its front. The 1968 date on its bottom *could* be when it was actually made, maybe?
