We just bought this from a lady who said it was a federal chest of drawers. She said her grandmother used to live in Ohio and would travel the North and east for American antiques. The feet and top along with the drawers are dovetailed. I took a picture underneath a drawer, it looks likes the edges were planed to fit in the slots. Does anyone have any info on the age of this chest? Is it from the federal period?

It is BEAUTIFUL -- especially love the exposed dovetails on the top.

Looks to be from the early 19th century. With some care and minor restoration it will last another 200 years.

Thank you for the info!! Any tips on restoration? I don't want to do it any harm.
