Have had this a good while and part of the personal effects from my deceased relative who I believe served in the regiment stated on the ashtray.

I have looked all on the internet for and information but failed. Also asked the lancs regiment who were intrigued but could add no info. It measures 15cm by 10.5 cm.

Was made in Belgium by D’Hemixen Gilliot & Cie who weren’t known for this product that I can tell.

If anyone can shed more light on this item that would be so appreciated. A piece of history .

    Thanks

I found this ashtray on two or three sites for sale. All of them say it was a commemorative ashtray made specifically for this unit

Thank you. I guessed it must have been but honestly never seen one on any site. Obviously I dont have your knowledge. Guess was made for a reunion of some sort and could have been a number of years after 1945.

Found it now on sites - thank you for your comments. The word commemorative made all the difference in the search. Ive been looking for few years and in less than half an hour you helped.

Yes the wording of your search string can make a huge difference in the results you get. It is easy to get tunnel vision doing searches. That is where sites like this are handy. Everyone has their own vision of what to look for and each of them might well word the search differently. Glad you located it, Good Luck.
