I found these cards in a old post card album that belonged to my great great grandmother. I have over a hundred cards that date from 1903-1920

1906-WW1 (plus or minus a few years) is what collectors think of as the main post-card era. Postals were the most common way of sending a greeting. People mailed them to friends only a few roads away or across the country (for a penny in the U.S.) In some areas, mail was picked up three times a day! (I have some postmarked with a time, like 6:30 AM and 10 PM, showing just how long some post-offices were open). People used to 'call' on each other with postcards, asking a friend to come over or requesting a friend to set up time for them to visit. Some tried writing them as letters, squishing in much tiny font all over the image (in which I saw one example where the Post Office put a Postage Due stamp on it for an additional penny, because they considered it a letter and not a postal!)
What really sets your collection apart, though, is that it was all to the same family! Few collections are composed of postals to the same person. In my collection, I have maybe 4 sets of 2-3 cards addressed to the same person. Great family history!!!
