This rocking chair was given to me by my mother, it belonged to her grandmother. It has been said that it was the first piece of furniture that she bought for herself after getting married and starting her own family (and purchased it with money she'd earned on a farm, picking potatoes) This would have been in the mid to late 1930's, but as far as it was purchased new or used is unknown. Unfortunately it has seen better days, lots of wear and tear to it and such. Mom said that Grandma has it reupholstered in the 1970's, and the original material was a black sort of velvet, with a wreath of pink (maybe faded red) roses and laurels stitched onto the back. Avery important possession of mine, as 4 generations have been rocked to sleep in this chair. Trying to determine a type or kind of chair it is, so that I may restore and preserve her for the next generation. Any information you can pass along would be so greatly appreciated!
