This Victorian vase is made from two layers of cased glass, shaded pale blue over a white interior, with a satin finish. It measures 24.4 cm tall, 8 cm across the crimped top rim, & 9.5 cm across the applied clear footed base. The vase features hand painted decoration of flowers & leaves.
Fairly certain it is of Bohemian origin.
This was acquired several months ago, but I hadn't unpacked it until today - why? Well, on my way home from where I bought it, it sadly got a little damaged in transit...I think it must have bumped against something else in my bag. Well, I could hear that dreaded clinking, jingling sound as I got it out, still wrapped, & my heart sank. I could not face it & put it away to deal with when I felt up to it. Anyway, the damage, though sad, it thankfully confined to one of the applied leaf feet. It still stands perfectly well without the foot, & even better, the foot is at the "back" of the vase, so not visible when on display. Still, I'd rather that it had not happened at all. I almost always repack any fragile items I have to carry on public transport, but for once didn't bother with this one, to its detriment. I was pretty mad at myself for being slack, as despite having carried literally hundreds of glass vases home over the years, this kind of mishap has only happened twice.

I tend to try and remember to carry bubble wrap round with me. So many places think it's ok to wrap glass up in a little tissue paper. Your vase is lovely, and what's a little damage!

I can definitely live with the damage...what annoys me is that it was perfect until it came into my hands...I do feel like I'm becoming the custodian of what I buy, so to be responsible for it being damaged is disappointing. But it is still beautiful!
