This is a large Victorian Silver and agate brooch I was lucky enough to find at a car boot sale three years ago. It was absolutely black when I bought it but after a good clean the scalloped engraved silver frame (which is unmarked) came up a treat!
I have photographed the brooch against a white background to show the pretty mottled agate. The reverse has a good strong pin with tube hinge and ‘C’ clasp. Can you see how the pin extends out beyond the frame of the brooch? This is a good indication of an antique brooch.
Yep! That's a treat trove ;-))
The agate is a landscape by itself... I love your pieces! (And collect mainly brooches, lol)
Many thanks for all the lovely comments. You know, many times I hear ladies say “Nobody wears brooches anymore”.......WELL I DO, I LOVE THEM!!
I am a brooch lover too Gibsongirl and wear mine as well:-) This one of yours is beautiful! I Love Agate :-)
