I was told it was from a salvaged tugboat that sank in the Hudson River north of Kingston, NY. The owner thought it was really old but couldn't say for sure. It was salvaged by B. Millens scrap company in the 1950s. Not sure i think it's brass. Not reactive to a powerful magnet. Weighs 40+ pounds. A foot wide
