This item is likely even more unique than it might appear at first glance, due to the true story behind it. Heavily made of a cast and machined non-magnetic metal, it measures about 17-3/4" long, 2-3/4" wide, and 1/4"thick, and weighs in at just over 3lbs. It is absolutely "new old stock" (in a way, sorta kinda) and has never been actually used. It WOULD have been intended to be one of the manufacturer's nameplates set into the floor landing platform at the top/bottom of a MONTGOMERY ESCALATOR. However...
When I was a teenager, one of my buddies' fathers worked at a Montgomery plant then (late 1970's/early 80's) located in the Quad-Cities IA/IL. At some point, he brought home a small stack of these plates, they having all apparently been deemed "factory reject" parts for some reason. (bad text alignment on the word "Dependable", one would havta guess by looking at it?) I ended up with one of them, and have used it as a 'wall decoration' or somesuch ever since. ;-) :-)
So I've now gotta think it'd *certainly* qualify as "unique", at least...??
My (probably) belated THANKS to SEAN68, blunderbuss2, fortapache, PhilDMorris, & Caperkid -- also to ho2cultcha for bringing this thing back up today!!
