      You have to be careful with these 'fashion plates', particularly from that magazine and a couple others. Many were reproduced using the original plates.

      I have always called them Godey prints . They could be found in Harper's Magazine for one . The showed the style of clothes in fashion in France in 1800's and they were purchased by ladies in US to see what the fashion trends were . They are always beautifully done but actually were a form of advertising . France was the leader in Fashion setting and I believe they still are . Women would then have seamstress's make them these fancy dress's . I have many that are framed and matted . They make great pictures to hang :-)
