This heavy gauge (1/16" or so thick) aluminum sign is 12" square and has the same legend on both sides in kinda reflective sheeting similar to highway and road signs. Back in the day (not really all *that* long ago?!) before everybody and their dog had a cellphone in their pocket, things called "telephone companies" provided signs such as this to businesses/etc. who wished to let the public know that a payphone was available within.
A friend of mine found it (with others) at a scrapyard a few years ago after our local telco apparently cleaned out their warehouse shelves, other than a few slight scuffs (seen only in the reflection of the sheeting in the 'flash' pics) I believe it is actually "new old stock" never having actually been used.
Belated THANKS to blunderbuss2, clockerman, fortapache, officialfuel, iggy, leighannrn, Chevelleman69, Roycroftbooksfromme1, & ttomtucker for having a look and sharing your likes/loves for my sign!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
