      Nice trunk! Pretty sure there is no covering on it, and I believe it was covered with leather. I believe the trunk is from the mid 1870's. Here's why. It did not originally have those latches, they were added. You can see the holes above and below the where the leather strap and buckle were attached. The design of the trunk, the lock, and the interior colors all help me date it. Jim
