Something I received last week from the original artist in North Carolina. A Hippie Pipe for smoking - that is all the explanation required - created in Ceramic Class at an Eastern University, flat bottom signed by LOIS and dated 1971 on bottom. The sgraffito imagery is wonderful period art with a cat, flower and eyeball. I wonder if the professor asked what it was or if he or she was invited over for a functionality test, and damn - I forgot to ask Lois. I'm bad, I'm bad... Size is approximately 7 inches long, 2 1/2 inches tall, and the bowl 2 1/2 inches wide. She says it was "Yes, it was used, but not very much." and I will take her word for that. Superb piece of period Hippie Art.

Lois kept great care of it all these years. She said it felt funny selling something she had for so long - 46 years is indeed a long time... for both of us.
