A friend gave this to me back in the early 1970s. He purchased it at an auction at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C. The folks at the Willard tell me it was probably from the "Palm Court".

It is lighted using a fluorescent bulb but it appears to be retrofitted as such (there are some screw holes in the lid that are not used for the current bulb setup).

It looks to be made of stainless steel. The glass the letters are etched in is quite thick and has a green edge.

I assume it is art deco, but I'm trying to date it. Any ideas?
