My dad got this when he was working for a local college who was cleaning out an old storage area and they were going to throw this out. He knew from my mothers collecting to take it home. That was over 30 years ago.
This is whats called antique tramp art as people would use what they could find to make what they needed. I have it hanging in one of the bathrooms.
Very detailed and impressive. There's a wealth of info on a site I go to when researching but I'm not on my pc and don't know how to link it. You could Google antique picture and mirror frames and usually it's within the top 3 sites. Lots of scrolling but we'll worth the visit!
Oops. I don't navigate to well on this new system yet. Just erase or delete one of those plz!
You wall mirror is circa 1880. Dutch embossed brass and backed with wood. Tramp art is usually made of wood. Check it out on Google.
Very nice although not tramp art . I imagine it looks beautiful hanging .
A lot of work went into it and it is very wonderful!
I wish to Thank You All for loving this mirror and the information. It was called tramp art by my mother as she explained when she young in the 1920s that people would take scrap and put them together for useful items, her father made some.
I'm always learning and glad for your correct information and glad this site helps in better recognizing items. Again Thank You.
