    I picked up this item at a recent estate sale where it was located in a box with other kitchen items in the kitchen. I am guessing it is an old kitchen tool? Or maybe not? Any possibly wrought iron? I would love to know what it is and what it was used for, lol.

      More likely a pie dough mixer. You cut the lard, butter, or margarine into flour to make pie crust. Keeps the warmth of your hands from melting the fat.

      generically because of the bell shape and star configuration, these are called bell-star food choppers. You'll find some with the N. R. S. & Co. Groton NY patent info on the handle c1893.
