Annikki Hovisaari (1918 - 2004), Arabia, Finland

Two wheel-turned objects, thrown by tthe Arabia of Finland artist Annikki Hovisaari. These has been made in the middle of the 1960’s.
Both with an extraordinary hooped body and with this expressive glaze in corresponding earthtone colored glaze. These two pieces are slightly different in height as shown on the pictures.

Annikki Hovisaari (1918 - 2004)
Hovisaari studied ceramics at the Central School of Art and Design from 1946 to 1949. Short after she started to work in the Arabia Department of Industrial Art. Hovisaari designed and made mainly decorative item sets and production of the Department of Industrial Art.
Hovisaari moved to the Arabia Art Department in 1963, where she did this outstanding wheel turned unique works of art
Over the time Annikki Hovisaari took part in international exhibitions mainly in the 1950's and 1960's. 1962 she was awarded with the first prize i.a. in Gualdo Tadino ceramics contest in Italy and ten years later in Vallauris, France.
