The New Jersey & New York RR Company ran from the Erie RR mainline in Rutherford, NJ and headed north to Hillsdale, NJ. Another railroad company, The New Jersey & New York Extension Railroad, took the line from Hillsdale to Sparkhill, NY. Although the railroad was controlled by the Erie, it remained a separate railroad company on paper until the Erie / DL&W merger in 1960. Even in EL days, the line was called the NJ&NY RR in employee and public timetables. The line still operates today as NJ Transit's Pascack Valley Line, operating as far north as Spring Valley, NY. Shown are artifacts from the NJ&NY RR: a stock certificate, hat badge and uniform button, freight Bill of Lading and timetables from 1959 and 1966.
