My favourite item of jewellery- I have had this beautiful necklace for around 16 years, I have always been in awe of its beauty. There is just something magical about it, when the light hits it, it just glows! The colours I think are quite regal and I can just imagine a Roman emperor wearing it round his neck and looking quite magnificent lol just a fantasy though. I have spent many years trying to find a similar necklace but to no avail... I really would like to know more about it- age, maker, worth etc. Please ignore this post if you think I’ve overstepped the mark (I know it says you shouldn’t post items on here for appraisal). I just needed someone else to see these beautiful beads and maybe somehow be able to solve the mystery for me.
    Many thanks,
    Keelley x

It does indeed have an air of regal bling from antiquity, and what is most important is that you love it, but simple method of construction suggests it was made by an amateur crafts person. I have used those same glittery rondelles in my own jewelry making. The red beads appear to be natural stone and are probably garnets. Cannot tell from photos whether the large golden beads are metal or another material, nor whether they are hollow or solid, a virtual certainty they are not actually gold.

Now go out wearing it and imagine you're Cleopatra! :)
