I remember this plate long before I had any appreciation for the time it took to make a mold that produced 18 identical raised shells and then painting each one a light pink color that gradually goes to red.It looks new because my mother only brought it out at Christmas until she put it away for good in the late 1970's. She caught my brother and I winging it around the living room like a frisbee. We couldn't figure out what she was so upset about because we never dropped it. (That didn't work) We both turned as red as the shells when see brought it back out in 2005 because she thought we had finally matured enough. The Tiffany's name and Worcester Royal instead of Royal Worcester is inside the cartouche with the intials WY in gold and the numbers 9177 that's also hand painted on the back.I believe it's from somewhere between 1885 and 1900.
Very nice!!
Thank you Mrstyndall and nutsabtas6.
There is also an impressed mark there, it may reveal a month and year code
Thanks Maryh1956.It has the name Worcester and nothing else.I'm just wondering who way is painted in gold on the back.
