I recently bought these matching Shakudo left and right vases. As you can see they are inlaid in high relief with birds, flowering
peonies/chrysanthemums, leaves and a insect, all naturalistically worked and in gold, bronze and copper coloured metals. I think they date from mid-Meiji period (1868-1911) and are in very good condition. These vases are welcome addition to my small Shakudo collection.
Many thanks for looking
Beautiful shakudo Jean. You must be such a great seeker to find such treasures.
And.....I think you have a stellar shakudo collection!
Hi Karen, when I have time on my hands I love to look for treasures. I haven’t much Shakudo but I’m gradually getting a few more pieces. These vases are great to addition to my collection. I’m always amazed at the work and effort that goes into making shakudo. Thank you for your lovely comment it’s much appreciated.
