Andy Warhol's Art, Factory, Movies and the Culture created around him gave us an incredible explosion of creativity ... Artists, Fashion, Music, Celebrities! The Warhol Superstars became known mainstream through the Lou Red song Walk on The Wild Side ...
Holly came from Miami F.L.A.
Hitch-hiked her way across the U.S.A.
Candy came from out on the island,
In the backroom she was everybody's darling,
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
These Fine Art Prints were created in the 90's when Holly Woodlawn's autobiography "A Low Life in High-heels" was turned into a script and plans were made for it to become a major motion picture. Though the movie was never completed, a limited edition of high quality art prints were made in hope of the movie release. Holly hand signed all the prints. Most of these prints were stored for the eventual release of her documentary. Holly passed away nearly two years ago. She was mentioned in memoriam at the Academy Awards with her picture flashed on the big screen. The boxes of these hand signed prints came out of storage a month ago and some have been released to the public for sale! In her memory, they are being sold to in part help the homeless this holiday season... her wish. The remainder will be part of an exhibit with Andy Warhol art and vintage photographs of The Warhol Superstars. These collectable iconic images are a cool reminder of the culture and history of all that surrounded Andy Warhol. What's really cool is the limited amount of the hand signed prints released are super affordable for true fans to pick up while they last. Refreshing when other memorabilia with her signature is out of reach for most fans. I dig the Warhol area and was able to get these many years ago when they were made! For any other fans out there, just thought I would share this surprise!
Wonderful pics, I have a friend who used to work for Warhol in the early Eighties, but now she lives in LA and is a very good writer, having done some powerful scripts. We had the city in common during our stay there.
