This is a large vase made from an amethyst black glass in a clear case with a clear foot.
The shape is from a mould, with ribs running from the foot through the body to the lip. The lip has been hot rolled.

The body of the vase and the inner lip have been heavily iridised, and some slight iridisation has over run to parts of the foot.
It shines an intense mix of blues and purples and gold, a colouring similar to carnival glass.

I tentatively date this to late 1970s.

    Height: 26cm Diameter: 19cm

Hey, this is sooo appealing. Iridescent glass a Japanese twist!
      I adore the hippo, too!

Love all those beautiful colors blended together & reflective, I do see the comparison to carnival glass but it's unique on black. And I too love your new ID hippo, he's cute!

Thanks Jenni! I have not been a collector of carnival glass so know little about it, just thought the colours were similar. Glad to have the comment and info.

It just shines on Mrs T. Thanks!

Thanks Ken. I like the ribbing too and helps the iridescence to show more colour.
I think I am pushing 400 pieces of glass now: I really should not admit to that! Anyway, the result is I can't have it all out so much is in boxes. I'm actually having a bit of a personal issue with it now as in; what to do with it all? A decision for another day I guess. It would be so much easier and less of a problem if the glass was all brooch size :)

I went simple with these Phil and decided to use just natural light. I'm chuffed you like the photos, and the vase. Thank you!

Holy iridescence Karen! When I first saw the photographs, I immediately thought of carnival glass, but obviously yours is of a much higher quality. Lovely!

      I laughed Rick! Hellas thanks!
It is pretty OTT with the iridescence but succeeds well with getting away with it lol.
