The Ford Zephyr model MB 33 was the second #33 of the line. It was sold from 1963-1968. In 1969 it was replaced by something a bit more exotic, the Lamborghini Miura.
Ford of Britain manufactured the actual car. Something kids in the US wouldn't see too often. The nice thing about Matchbox/Lesney is that it had an international flavor. Vehicles from the UK, US, Germany, Italy and others were featured. The current version of Matchbox is just a name owned by Mattel.
Back to this model it came in a D Box which were made from t1961-1967 which means this is from 1963-1967. Personally I am thinking 1965-66. Never have seen this model in anything other than a D box which are rare after 1966.
The exciting feature for this model is the suspension as seen on the front of the box. There is a strip of plastic that simulates a suspension inside the base of the model. Anything to get that 59 cents from the kids.
I saw one just this colour at the all British day recently! Cool model.
Now if only the Miura had replaced it, at the same cost. That is a seriously cooool car.
Thank you very much nutsabotas6. Plus cars with boxes tend to be in the best condition.
Thank you very much racer4four. The Matchbox version costs the same. Probably a bit of a price difference between the 1:1 versions.
Thank you
