-----------A LITTLE BIT ABOUT SOLOMON BURKE-------------
Solomon Burke was an American recording artist and vocalist, who shaped the sound of rhythm and blues as one of the founding fathers of soul music in the 1960s and a key transitional figure in the development of soul music from rhythm and blues. Burke was referred to as "King Solomon", the "King of Rock & Soul", "Bishop of Soul" and the "Muhammad Ali of soul". Due to his minimal chart success in comparison to other soul music greats such as James Brown, Wilson Pickett and Otis Redding, Burke has been described as the genre's "most unfairly overlooked singer" of its golden age. Atlantic Records executive Jerry Wexler referred to Burke as "the greatest male soul singer of all time". Critics have regularly called him one of the greatest singers of his generation, dubbing him “The King of Rock & Soul”. His real name was James Solomon MacDonald (born 21st March 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died 10th October 2010 in Amstersdam, Netherlands). Solomon began recording gospel and R&B sides for the Apollo imprint in the mid- to late '50's. He left Apollo in 1961 and he signed with Atlantic Records the same year, he left the label in 1968 and signed to Bell Records initially, before later joining MGM in 1970. Solomon also later became internationally famous following the version of "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" recorded by Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi featuring in the 1980 film 'The Blues Brothers'. Throughout his life Burke was an ordained minister, he hosted a gospel radio show, he was an undertaker who owned a mortuary business in Los Angeles, and he was also a father to 21 children (14 daughters and 7 sons). Burke’s vocals always possessed a gospel undertone. He had an impressive 39 singles land comfortably on the pop and R&B Charts. “I Feel a Sin Coming On” [#97 POP April 1966] is listed No. 20 on the Complete list of Solomon Burke Billboard Charting Singles. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and won a Grammy in 2003.

Just curious - why is Metal not Rock n Roll?

I love your question! One could say Metal music EVOLVED from Rock music caused by the fixation of guitar mania to grind that ax and thier ability to make it EXTREME! I believe that Rock was the inspiration for the invention of Metal music, but Metal has since progressed into thier own genre with a wide variety of sub genres. A few things that sets the Rock genre and it's wide variety of sub genres aside from Metal genre is the sound in Rock has a lighter distortion than Metal which has strong distortion. Rock uses classic drum set WITHOUT double bass pedal while Metal USES double bass pedal in the drum set. But in all honesty it really relies on the interpretation of the listener.
