I'm wondering if anybody recognizes something about this that might help me learn more about it -- what its made of, where it might have come from, how old it could be, or anything else for that matter??!!

It is a largish single spherical bead (about an inch across and 1-1/2" long total) made of some kind of yellow translucent material with whitish graining in it, fixed (cemented, I think?) between conical silver caps with a textured spiral-ish pattern to them. To me, the whole thing has a kinda 'handmade' look to it, with small irregularities/scratches/etc. still showing if you look really close. It isn't all that heavy for its size, weighing in at roughly 20 grams.

Best as I can remember, I picked it up someplace (no idea where??) several years ago already 'loose'. It is now on a slender black lanyard cord necklace, which I do recall was somewhat challenging to thread through it...apparently the hole within it is slightly smaller than those on the silver cones.

ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS are WELCOMED, as to what it is or what might to be done with it??!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Does it stay cold to the touch? Does it warm up quickly in your hand? Does it feel like plastic or something else? Very hard to tell you what it is made from when we cannot handle it.

      Thinking copal, a tree resin:

      or reconstituted (melted) amber, perhaps...

Thanks so very kindly to fortapache, kyratango, and racer4four for your love!!

Efesgirl, it *does* seem to stay cold to the touch without warming too much -- I would have never thought to check that. (and don't have the slightest clue what it might indicate?) It doesn't really strike me as a typical "plastic", but definitely does *not* feel like glass or stone either -- it isn't that dense/heavy. Perhaps kyratango's suggestion of a resin/amber material is getting closer, the beads seen in that link are smaller but their material looks very similar anyways??

I DO appreciate y'all's guesswork, all the while fully realizing the inherent difficulties of "identification via photograph"?!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
