Rather badly I fear. I bought this at Calico Ghost Town north of Barstow from the Crack Open Your Own Geode bin. It had a good round shape and was light so I thought it would be a good one. Looked up how to crack open a geode on the web and carefully followed the directions. The result being an intact geode. So I used an axe head and a hammer and got 5 geode pieces. One of the pieces looks like a proper geode. Now that I have cracked my own open I think I will buy the pre cracked ones in the future.

They are very fragile. The slightest wrong tap and you have a bag of pieces. Rock saws are always the best solution for opening a geode.

Humm... But you had the excitement to do it ;-)) and still a decent bit to display!

Thank you very much racer4four. Sadly I didn't quite follow the directions.

Thank you very much flashlarue. I decided not to invest in additional equipment for this project.

Thank you very much kyratango. There seem to be 3 pieces that are fairly decent.

Very cool Fort… was it hard? Not the rock the process?

Thank you very much Rick. Wasn't hard after I figured out how to do it.
