Franciscan China, originally of Gladding McBean fame, was sold to Wedgewood in 1979. Shortly after that all production of the remaining Franciscan line was done in England. I don't know the particulars of this piece but it is clearly meant to commemorate Franciscan's California roots. Cool item.
