This is a piece from my grandparents. It may be from their parents. It is at least from the 1920s I believe but would love to learn more. I could not find any markings on it besides some numbers on the back (which I posted a pic of).
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks in advance!
Would need to see the entire piece, with nothing on it. The back, the inside and outside of the drawers, and the legs.
The numbers are quite modern.
Thanks Gillian. And Well I was only able to add a few pictures though I have others of all you ask for. When you say the numbers are "quite modern" - can you give me an idea of how that is defined by years/date?
I have a complete set of the dies used to stamp the numbers in. The dies were made after WWII.
Thank you @fhrjr2! Some family swore this piece (and its many companions) were early 1900s. I appreciate the input and insight!
As fhrjr2 says the numbers were set in place post WWII, which could mean anything from 1945 thru 1960 (and later).
I thought about 1940 when I first seen it. I knew it was not 1920's but at least 1940. That is the date this style first started to really take off and really made a lot of similar pieces throughout the 1940's. You can find examples in catalogs especially, like Sears, and Eatons Catalogs in Canada. It is a very nice piece.
