Hi everyone! I got this early Christmas gift the other day. I'm not supposed to be looking at it yet. But I think its grand! It has the original wavy glass. And the keys to lock it up. A very detailed face in the corner where the mirror is. It has some slight water damage on the top shelf. But it's solid oak. Not sure how to fix. Hate to take off the old crackle finish. I'll get more pictures later.

When you go to doing the repair start with a piece of similar scrap wood or in a spot it won't show like the back of the piece. You will need some fine steel wool like 0000, a small bottle of animal hide resin glue (it is light brown in color), a couple glue brushes and a hair blow drier. Use the steel wool to clean your test area. Next paint on a thin coating of the glue and use the hair drier fairly close to set the glue. Animal hide resin glue will give a crackle finish if you dry it quickly. The reason you start with a test area is to match the color. Less glue gives you a lighter color finish and more glue a darker color with deeper crackle grooves. Once you get use to it then it is easy. Test area is always the best way to start so you don't create a bigger problem. Good Luck.

Thanks so much! Only a lil bit needs to be fixed from water damage. I will try that. And let you know how it goes!
