I would like to know your opinion on this bangle. Could be tortoisheshell, or could be fake? I dont know. I put it under hot water (that was before I googled that this shouldnt be done (blush :) ) and the smell was definitely something organic. The bracelet is rather stiff. Shiny on the outside, matt on the inside. No bug bites, or at least I dont see them.

To be honest, I originally purchased the lot as I hoped that the brown necklace is bakelite. It is not. The price was low, cca 1 EUR a piece, plus postal fee. If this is real tortoiseshell, then I made a bargain indeed!
Are there some non-invasive ways to test the piece that you know? I would be very thankful for your tips!

I'd say your bracelet is tortoiseshell, specially if it doesn't smell chemical after hot water test.
