Hello everyone.
Bought this really stunning ring last week for Buy it Now price of $75.00.
It has the plaque on the inside of the ring with WAGER in capitals.
It is a double shank silver ring, with a large stone that the seller said is a brilliant cut citrine.
There are 4 gum leaves, one top and bottom and one each side, as well as two rows of vine.
Naturally I am really excited to have a signed Rhoda Wager ring!!!
There is something curious about this ring though........stamped on the double shank is the sterling silver mark 925!!!!!!
I don't know what to make of that as I thought that neither Rhoda nor Dorothy stamped this on their work!!
I just can't understand why there would be the known WAGER plaque as well as the unknown 925 stamp.......
Perhaps Jewels1900 or KiwiPaul might have seen this before?? Or do I start to worry about it being a copy?? For the price I would not be too upset if it wasn't a genuine Wager piece, disappointed yes, but still a very lovely Arts and Crafts ring which I would wear!!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy seeing this ring, it really is lovely!!! and please do tell me what you think regarding real or not, thanks, Judy
UPDATE...........Jewels1900 has confirmed this ring is a fake!!
What a beautifully designed ring Judy, love the silver with the citrine stone, it's lovely
Hi Jean, I'm very sorry to say this isn't right. It's not just the 925 but the shank, the setting, the leaf & wire work all point to a fake. But the signature looks completely right. But it's not.
Interesting I've just bought a signed Wager ring for not a lot of money. I think it's going to be a fake too.
Oh yes Bonnie, my seller has another. But to give them credit, they are being completely honest with their description. Mine did say Wager style, from the 1980's. Very clear.
Bummer, fakes undermine all of Wager's work.
Thanks Ken, I do appreciate your nice comment:)
Many thanks Jenni, citrine and silver do go together don't they:-)
Hi Jewels, it's Judy not Jean, I really did think it would be a fake......it just didn't "feel" right compared to my boulder opal wager ring!
I even spoke to the seller last night about it but she new nothing about Rhoda wager until after she bought the ring and googled! She really only bought it because of the stone.
There is an Aus site called Palm Beads who sell copies of one particular style of wager rings, google them and in the search box put Rhoda Wager.......
I am pleased now that you have confirmed fake for me thanks Jewels:-)
A bit cranky that nothing seems to be safe from fakes these days and will probably get worse I suppose!
Apologies Judy, appalling with names, just ticked off my middle boy for not calling his cousin by her name & called him his brothers name!
I know the Palm Beads ones, they've been about for a while. There's also another group from about 10 years ago that I see at the markets sometimes. But these ones are signed which is really annoying. I've been stung by 2 fakes in the past 12 months (not this one though - seller was clear - others were passing off as real deal). Obviously as things become more valuable it attracts the scam artists. Really unpleasant.
Thanks Jewels, I will be trying very hard not to get caught again!!

I still cannot believe the outcome!! And that those scoundrels (not the word I want to use!) are putting that very special Wager plaque on their pieces!!
I have taken my frustration out on the garden today lol :-))

It's beautiful. I just don't get why, if someone has the skill to make a ring like this, why not build up their own name than selling it as a fake of someone else's work? Just to make money I know but still.......
Very pretty ring! Merry Christmas to you Judy!!
