I made this instrument out of minimal supplies. It plays very beautifully. The wood is just your average 1 1/2 inch thick by 5 and half inch wide board. The cross bar is a cut in half metal wind chime that had weathered for many years which were filled with dirt. The tines are teeth from a metal rake that I got out of some random persons trash can. The wire that the tines sit on in the front is copper wire I literally dug up out of the ground (there's no telling how long it had been there). The white strip in the back is a piece of notebook paper I had to put there to keep the tines from rattling. The second picture is to just show the finish I did on it which isn't required. It was my first time so take it easy on me lol. I did 3 coats of minwax read oak as a base coat and then went over it 2 or 3 times with a lighter color stain (I don't remember the color) to bring out that golden color in the grain as you can see. I then went over it with 10 or so coats of clear gloss spray lacquer.
