More rare birds in migration. Here we have a number of vintage 1940's WW2 solid cast aluminum models created by factory shops for their own company displays. None are trench-art. All of these need some attention and that is why they have migrated to the Sandman Overhaul shop. First picture is of a Boeing B-29 Superfortress (23.50" wingspan) and its older sibling, the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress (17.00" wingspan) Both need updating such as replacing the turrets then props on the B-29 and replacing the stand then props on the B-17.
Next photo shows a Consolidated PBY Catalina (17.20" wingspan) which is in good shape but the client museum will be asking for 8th AAF markings to be applied.
Last Photo shows a Republic P-47D Thunderbolt (12.3" wingspan) from the Evansville, IN Plant and a North American P-51D (11.00" wingspan) are both approximately the same scale (1/40) so it is easy to see how much larger the P-47 was to the P-51. Both need new stands and the P-51 needs a new propeller and some corrosion repair. The P-47 will gain new markings from the 56th FG and the P-51 from the 4th FG when overhauled next spring.
Enjoy the holidays!

These are even better than trench art as they are actually from Boeing.
