I found this beautiful girl at an estate sale this summer and have researched like crazy but cannot find out who she is or when she was made. She is marked both on her chest and on the back. She has some pencil writing on her that stated she was purchased for 50 cents and had some initials on it. The closest I could come is that she may be a GERMAN HEINRICH HANDWERCK but I am not sure. Any help would sure be appreciated. She really is gorgeous and in great condition except fo the thumb on the right hand which is broken :(

She is a German Parian doll . If she had been glazed she would have become a China doll. China dolls and Parian often are dated by their hairdo. Yours is a rather simple hairdo reminiscent of Kling China but he is not a Kling , Alt Beck Gottschalck made many of the Parian dolls and some dolls were quite elaborate with glass eyes and fancy hairdo's with high quality bisque some were not as fine quality like yours more simple with just what is called a wavy hairdo . Looks to date 1880-1900 .At the end of Parian making period of dolls . Her body has been repaired and covered in cloth as I suspect it was leaking sawdust . She is a nice find but it is not possible to always be sure of a company as there were hundreds and she has no distinct feature to point to a specific co. I do not believe she is a Heinrich Handwerck.

PS China Doll and Parian doll collectors don't really search for maker it is all about the quality and look of doll when they buy . So just enjoy her . Does she have original clothes ? You also can clean face it wont hurt her .
