      This pedal car is from the 1930s, prior to WWI. I think it originally had a metal post on the back with a wooden handle to push baby around in. I absolutely love it.

      I had one very similar in Australia in the early 40s but it was made by "Cyclops" in the 1930s as my Late Father got it Resprayed around 1940. I remember it well and I pedalled it home with my Parents assistance from the spray painters about 2 miles to our home in suburban Melbourne. I had it until I was not able to fit into it around the age of 8 but it was used as a Pedal car,and didn't have a push bar on the back. The only problem I had with it was when ewe were having a race down a steep hill as the pedal were fixed to the back axle and as fast as you went the faster the pedals went up and down and if you didn't take your foot out of the way it ended up getting jammed in the pedal structure. The wheels were fitted with a hub cap and pressed into it was the word Cyclops. It also had a bonnet mascot and pressed headlights, they weren't not made to work. The only way you could stop on a steep slope was to try and stop the pedals by pushing hard with your foot. Didn't always work so you either headed of the road onto some grass or into the gutter resulting in you just about getting ejected, no seat belts in those days ! I'm now in my 70s and the memories are as great today as what they were at the age of about 4. the one in the photo to me looks like it was made in the 30s but it could have been either home built or also by a small company in NZ..

      Thanks for that. I really have no idea of its pedigree. I have restored now and painted in the Bugatti/Galloise blue as everyone refers to it as a Bugatti Type 13.
      Another mystery of the pedalcar world??
