Mysterious Hood Ornament

I'm looking for some more details on this hood ornament. It's bolted to the hood or my late father-in-law's late-model Chevy dump truck. I don't know anything about this item, but would love to learn more, including the artist, time period, etc.
The truck has sadly fallen to disrepair and the elements in general. But the lovely chrome lady is still poised proudly, seemingly oblivious to the condition of the truck hood to which she is affixed.
Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated, for no other reason that to quench my thirst for information.
