Anyone know where this is from? I am thinking India, but not sure. Also, can you please tell me what this actually is? The top hole is threaded for something. Thanks!!

It could be a flag pole floor base. Some flag poles thread into the base, while some are just inserted.

Is it heavy, solid, filled with sand, or hollow and light ? I'm guessing about 4" in diameter ?

Yes, about 4". Not filled with anything at all. Hollow and light.

Ok, well that blows the flag pole base theory out of the water. I'm out of ideas.

It could have possibly had another piece that screwed into the threaded part and only guessing but looks like India to me, I have several brass items similar to yours and a couple of them have parts that separate , threaded and not. Hope this helps in some way.

Thanks, Twisted, yeah, I have seen some similar things, but it came with a large lot of antique lighting items, so I was wondering if it could possibly be a font of some sort. I cannot find anything like it at all.
