This is a beautiful silver spoon that I purchased thinking it was silver plated. I just thought it was pretty and unique and got it for a good price. After polishing it, I looked more and more like it was solid sterling silver. I filed into the spoon in a pretty hidden spot and did two separate acid tests. Both of them proved to be solid sterling silver! Now I'm trying to identify it which is quite difficult with no markings at all. I'm assuming it's quite old since it's doesn't have anything to identify it's maker and is solid sterling silver, but I'm not versed well enough in antique sterling flatware or serving pieces. Any help identifying the area it came from, the age, or the maker would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

I believe this to be a 'Berry spoon'.

If you have a jewelers' loupe, search high and low and everywhere else for a hallmark.

      Gillian,
Thank you for your info regarding a "Berry Spoon". It does resemble a berry spoon but there are absolutely no makers marks, names, letters, symbols or any other type of hallmarks - no marks at all on this spoon. I've spent at least two hours with 3 different jewelers' loupes and found nothing. That's why I am having such a difficult time with finding it's value! Knowing that it may be a berry spoon definitely helps! Thank you!!

If you can find an antique dealer specialising in silver, I would ask about it there. Also, a number of auction houses will accept a picture of the spoon for identification.
