    Has anyone ever seen this sign before ? I cannot find any information on it anywhere, it is lighted with a glass front.

      This would be Carter Carbureter Company, St. Louis, MO. Notice the CAR an TER flanking the BURE in the word CARBURETER. Established in 1909, it ceased production in 1984 with the introduction of fuel-injection. It was actually sold by founder William Carter to American Car and Foundry Company in 1922, which continued to operate under the Carter name.

      Just from appearance, and not being neon, I'd guess late 70's to mid 80's just prior to the closing of the plant operations.

      The aluminum trim and the sign being glass instead of acrylic is leaning more towards 50's from other signs that I have, but I cannot find another one like it anywhere so hopefully someone has seen this before and can shed some light on it
