I recovered a small pile of various antique (most likely...*very* old, anyways) ceiling fan motors about 20yrs ago from a derelict house, immediately before it got chewed up by a backhoe and hauled away in rolloff dumpsters. This one is probably my favorite of the lot since -- despite that it is so dirty that it is difficult to see in the pics -- its exterior seems to be mostly made of (once) kinda fancy brass. Its topside is especially grimy, but I was eventually able to scrape enough of that away to show most of its EMERSON ELECTRIC MFG. CO. nameplate for the pic. It is VERY heavy, likely 25+lbs., and is about 3' in overall length. Sadly its blades are long gone and only a portion of one of their brackets now remain. I'm gonna guess 1920's for this one, but would not be surprised if it was a decade or more either way from that.

I have never come up with the slightest idea what to actually *do* with it...I have little doubt that it likely could be gorgeous if cleaned/polished back up...also would suspect it is probably still entirely likely to be *functional*, esp if (again) thoroughly cleaned/lubricated/etc...but it is HUGE...and where on earth would one find blades for it...and none of my ceilings are even close to high enough...and...??? <arrrgh><headdesk>

Oh well...at least it isn't now buried in a landfill, instead...? ;-) :-)

That is great. I am sure someone sells replacement blades for ceiling fans. Ceiling fans are very popular now. I just did a quick search and they sell them all over. Not the exact ones of course but they are out there.
