I started collecting napkin rings several years ago and have become fairly discriminating. I've stayed pre-1925 English, all hallmarked. I sold off some early finds at a surprising good profit. In the US Midwest, the English hallmarks are appreciated more than US Sterling. I picked up the antique needle display and it holds the rings perfectly. Most the rings are engraved, as my wife likes to feel that they were actually owned by a person and have a spirit.
And ya just learn something new every day! I've never known anyone that collects napkin rings but why not?!? It's said that for everything, a collector be!
Nice collection, and I agree with your wife :-)
Once you start a collection like this, you are fully hooked on it !~
I know it is addictive. At least they're still reasonably priced on-line. I have 5 more slots to fill and I want them to be perfect.
