Does anyone know the history on this lamp? It's been in my family for about 80 years. Not sure what it's called, and have not been able to find online similar lamps with a description.

Its from the early 1970's. I have put this in a folder with other lamps of this period. The base on these lamps often lit up also, you did not mention if yours does.
