Triple-A grade Tanzanite, weighing .92ct set in a East to West setting. That is why I liked this one so much, it does not have the usual North to South setting. This stone shoots fire of Blue, Purple and Red and is free of inclusions. The rough was mined from "D Block" of a mine in Tanzania, the best stones were mined there and I do not think they are getting any really good veins there anymore. There are 18 round Diamonds that ribbon around the center stone and go down either side North to South, set in 7g of 18kt White Gold. One of my great finds and part of my jewelry collection, small as it is I do have a few good ones :)
I adore tanzanite...one of my favorites. Just beautiful.
Beautiful stone, and I agree the setting sets this apart.
So much beauty Tlynnie, you have such an eye!
Thank you melaniej and racer4four! I do like "different" styles in jewelry. I don't go looking for pieces anymore, it is hard for me to get around to the good places now :) I miss it very much, estate and garage sales, finding that piece that jumps out at you and you have to have it. And it's even better when you get that great deal!
For me now, it is basketry. Something I can find in online auctions all over the place. It does not have to be a really valuable one, it has to jump out at me. But it doesn't hurt to find a really nice basket for very little, either :) I just got a new one made by Ann Mitchell, Mohawk Native American. My Christmas pressie to myself. I am putting it up here tonight, along with a antique Mexican Saltillo wool blanket.
