Sometimes I go and sit with a friend who has an antique shop and help them with sorting jewelry. She has bins and bins of jewelry! We sort, bag and SHE prices. What I enjoy the most is listening to all the stories they have to tell......we have a lot of laughs.
On this particular day I found this piece and was kinda freaked out! Why? Well it seems to have a "phallic symbol"
It actually moves in and out....in pic#3 on the reverse you can see how it's attached, a wire crudely twisted.
The discussion we had on this piece was so hilarious and the Older Ladies thought I was crazy and seeing things. Needless to say she wanted no part of this piece and sold it to me for a little of nothing along with another necklace pendent.
So, I was wondering do you guy's see what I see? or am I just totally wrong?
Also he is holding something in his hand I can't make out the object and the back has the strangest hook....almost like a fishing hook.
He was totally tarnished and after a little cleaning with a silver clothe he looks a little better.
Is it Asian....Japanese or Chinese?
what is it.....brooch or what?
Is it actually a phallic symbol or am I crazy? lol sometimes I'm a little crazy!
for now I put under "Asian Amulets"
He certainly looks happy, I would agree Asian with the Buddha-like smile, does the back hook flip up for hanging
Newfld the back hook does NOT. ....I found that strange also as what does this go to and how to attach. Guess you would do attach to something the same way you would hook a worm...lol
The hook looks sort of like a glove or shoe hook ....to undo the buttons
