Excited about recent purchase of SD vase and pitcher. Pitcher is 9" H, 5.25" W.
Can you assist in the age of both pieces?

Experts on Santo Domingo pottery, from Harlow to Allan Hayes, have discussed the difficulty in precisely dating a lot of Santo Domingo pots.
I'm assuming there are no marks on the bottoms, which could be of help. In that case, I think you are safe in saying these could be anywhere from the 1920s to the early 1980s.
My guess would be toward the earlier time period, but even Allan Hayes had to revise the date of a Santo Domingo olla, which his first edition of
"Southwestern Pottery" placed as 1920s...but he found out by the second edition that it had actually been made by Robert Tenorio. in 1982.
And, yes there are no markings on the bottom...

these are wonderful! as in so much pottery, age is often synonymous with quality and attention to detail, but certain artists have always come along and made superior quality work - confusing our ability to date objects. but in the end, a quality piece is just that - a quality piece no matter when it was made.
