Really excited about recent purchase of Cochiti (?) vase. Vase is 10" H, 6.5” W.
Can you assist in the Pueblo and age of the vase. From my research, I think this maybe Kiua Polychrome due to the triangle shapes, 1880-1920—in Matte-Paint Pottery by Francis Harlow, page 217 (e), picture on 220.

Looks like Santo Domingo Pueblo.
Harlow himself has admitted the difficulty in distinguishing between some early Cochiti and Santo Domingo pots. That led to his defining the term "Kiua Polychrome" in the 1960s, as the prevailing style at both Santo Domingo and Cochiti prior to the 1920s, when the styles at the two pueblos started diverging.
He has also stated the difficulty in precisely dating pottery from both, since they are very traditional, and tend to continue early patterns.
I'd think the dating is circa 1920s, and agree that the pattern is very similar to the Cochiti olla pictured on page 220. I wouldn't second-guess Harlow. He's the expert when it comes to this type of pottery.
Thank you CRoad for 'mystery solved'.
Could use your knowledge on interesting 'mystery' piece posted this morning..
