Nanny Still designed the Tzarina-series of glass in 1963 for Riihimäen Lasi. The line included opal/colored decanters, bottles and many other glass pieces. After actively searching for these pieces I have come to notice that if I want to find signed pieces with no faults or missing stoppers, I had to find 5-6 pieces to find a good collection piece. This series seems to have been very hard to make in even quality in production. I have seen many pieces with black spots, uneven color/colorless areas and deformed decanter necks. So in addition to maybe having cracks or missing stoppers, there have been many production faults. So I have bought only ones that meet my criteria. In this picture there are some items from my collection.
I consider the Tzarina line of glass one of the most undervalued glass items from Nanny Still.

Thanks vlkma! I have about 20 Tzarina pieces at the moment and am willing to buy all signed perfect pieces I find, of course as long as I can afford it... Even though prices have gone up I still consider these undervalued compared to Wirkkala or Sarpaneva although they are great designers as well.

I have followed your fantastic posts and pictures for some time and cannot fathom how you have found so many rare Nanny Still pieces such as the Luxus line.
      All the best!

The soft colours seem very unusual to me for Riihimäen, I have never seen them before.
      Marvelous!

So only 20 of them? And I was so happy with my 9 Tzarinas!

I see you're picky about your Tzarinas, but I understand you want to have top notch items in your collection... in any case I wouldn't mind to get those 4 or 5 Tzarinas you discard for every single one you buy, really! My pink box, which we bought last year at Riihimäki, has a single black spot on it, but it was a good chance to get a nice discount -even if the prce wasn't too high because of it-

I hope you share your other 15 Tzarinas -and whatever new nes you get- here at CW!!! Your collection must be amazing!

Austrohungary, to be honest I had 10 Tzarina pieces a couple of months ago but managed to buy 10 pieces from a collector before Christmas So it was quite a "Christmas present" for myself and I told my family I don't need any big Christmas presents because of the purchase.

More honesty: I have been collecting Nanny Still for only 7 months now, although very intensely, but have a long way to go. You and Vlkma have been collecting many years and clearly have nice collections and some really beautiful items!

Right now I am trying to get the whole Fantasma series in color orange..
