Any idea on what this is? It was given as an inheritance and they didn't know what it was and now I'm curious to know what it is besides sitting pretty on a shelf

It is a very nice example of Victorian vaseline, or uranium glass (that's what makes the distinctive yellow colour). Most likely English in origin - could be by Richardson, John Walsh Walsh, or Thomas Webb & Sons, among others in the Stourbridge region. Period is likely 1880s...small posy vases like this, in uranium yellow glass, were very popular made in many shapes.
BEAUTIFUL vase-- agree with lace on a possible John Walsh Walsh attribution.
