I found this in an old trunk and at first, I thought it was a work glove then I found an old baseball and what looks like a belt it's white with a brass buckle. The ball is very darkened, however, I think there may be signature's on the ball but no manufacturer name on it. Other than this the trunk was filled with petticoats, corset covers, christening gowns, and a few women's jackets and baby shoes. Picked it up at auction. Can anyone tell me anything about this it looks as though it may have been the woman's keepsakes of her husbands.
Excellent Find! Very early 1900's vintage, either A.J.Reach, or George Reach baseball glove. Allot ot people do not realize that in the 1800's, the baseball glove was "bare hands". Then it progressed to a leather work glove, with the fingers cut out, and so on, until today, where the players are wearing a thousand dollar cow on their hand. When i first played ball in the 3rd grade, i had a gloce design like yours that i paid 50 cents for, at the thrift store. As far as I'm concerned, i think ALL young first time ball players, should use a glove of this design, as it teaches them the proper "2 handed cradle" way to catch a ball.
